Truth, Trust and Teams

Before cross functional working, project teams and matrix reporting, teams moved through visible stages of development and as leaders we could make good judgements about what was happening and what they needed. Leadership was never easy, but the basics could be grasped.

Today things are a tad more complicated. It seems that our old models of team development and leadership do not serve us quite so well. Our teams are now fluid and more dynamic. Additionally their motivations and needs have also changed. It is harder than ever to figure out what is really going on. And harder still sometimes to know what to do.

As if things were not challenging enough, trust in organisations - and leaders - is at an all time low. The media is awash with stories of leadership self interest, the loss of integrity and eroding trust.

And many of us, who are charged with leading groups and teams, find ourselves at the sharp end of these dynamics. New thinking is needed.

Aim: This interactive session will explore teams, trust, truth and leadership. It will explore the tensions and dynamics in a new way so that we can gain an insight into what is going on and how best we can serve our teams.

Design: The session will provide some practical tools for managing the tensions that emerge between team members and the leadership as well as inter team dynamics.

Who is this Workshop For? Anyone who leads groups or teams and needs a fresh perspective, new tools and new thinking. And anyone who might want to improve their team role and contribution or who consults to teams.

Benefits: You can expect to go away with some, or perhaps or all of these…

·    New thinking around team dynamics and development
·    Practical tools for managing inter team conflict
·    Insure your leadership credibility against loss of trust or integrity

Facilitator: The session facilitator will be Mike Phipps who runs a leadership development practice as well as being the co-founder of Politics at Work™ – a world class influencing skills consultancy. He has published several books with Wiley and Co and is a regular contributor to the media across such diverse titles as Men’s Health and Cosmopolitan through to the more traditional HR media.
