Wed, 3rd September, 2025 from 10:00 AM, in Near Salisbury
As people committed to your own long term personal development we invite you to join Clare Southall for one or two days at the beautiful Hazel Hill Wood near Salisbury to experience The Work that Reconnects originally created by Joanna Macy and Molly Brown, and to discover ways to apply it in your own context as we experience the uncertainty and volatility of the times we are living and working in. Clare, supported by Nick Mabey who will act as moderator for this event will guide you on a journey through four stages of the WTR Spiral: Coming from Gratitude; Honouring Our Pain for the World; Seeing with New/Ancient Eyes; and Going Forth. This is work that is deeply concerned with how we navigate through times of global, environmental crisis, however understanding the Spiral offers a way to hold deep, critical conversations in a range of contexts.
Uniquely, there is also the option to stay at the wood overnight (or return the next morning) and take part the following day in an exploration our own personal relationship to Hope. Ten years ago Clare wrote her Masters Dissertation about Hope, and very Recent Gallup Research has shown that Hope is now what followers want from their leaders more than anything else. https://www.gallup.com/workplace/655817/people-need-leaders.aspx
It is however a tricky word to understand, is often misunderstood and yet potentially we need it now more than ever. With Clare we will explore the language, spirit and practices of Hope and how we can bring it alive for ourselves and our clients in these most challenging times.
As this day will also draw some inspiration from the work of Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone on Active Hope there is a connecting thread however you can choose to attend either the first or second day or both days.
Clare was an attendee at the very first Sadler Heath, twenty-five years ago and is also a moderator of Sadler Heath. She has been an organisational change consultant, coach and reflective partner for leaders across many organisational sectors for over twenty-five years and recently trained as a facilitator in the WTR. As seen above she has a deep and enduring interest in the subject of Hope. She is also an ordained Interfaith Minister.
Nick will be moderating this two-day event, however as he is a trustee of Hazel Hill Wood and works there often himself, he will also be hosting and supporting us during our stay. This is a unique place, with facilities designed to protect and sustain the environment, so detailed guidance on what to expect, and what to bring with you will be provided.
Hazel Hill Trust is a registered charity and raises money so that people can be rejuvenated by nature who would otherwise not be able to. Any surplus after food/drink will all go to the Trust.
Numbers staying overnight will be limited to 12 to ensure everyone has their own room.
Food will be provided but not catered. We will weave food making and washing up into the programme.
